Stitch Fix Review: September 2015

Hey there friends! I have been a fan of Stitch Fix for quite a while now, but since I've only started this blog as of last month, I have never reviewed my "fixes" online. Since this is a fashion/lifestyle blog, I figured it would be good to share with my fellow fashionistas.

When you sign up for Stich Fix you will fill out a style and size survey. Then, a professional stylist will take your information and put together a "Fix" with five items to send to you. When you get the box, you try everything on and keep what you want. It costs $20 per Fix. If you keep at least one item, the $20 is credited toward your bill at checkout. If you keep all five items, they will give you a 25% discount.

Here are the five pieces I received in my latest Fix:
41Hawthorn Evander Dress

Don't mind creeper Coco sniffing my leg. :)

I wasn't sold on this dress until I tried it on. I love the navy blue color and that I could add tights, boots, and a cardigan for fall. The floral print is so pretty! Unfortunately, I bought a lot of dresses this summer and the price on this one was too high. I couldn't justify the price for the quality. RETURN

THML Jaylie Cowl Neck Colorblocked Poncho
Looking at this poncho now, I think it's really cute. I already own a gray poncho, so I'm not in the market for a new one just yet. Plus, this one was fairly bulky and I felt like I was drowning in sweater material. RETURN.

Liverpool Anita Skinny Pant
LOVE LOVE LOVE this skinny pant. When I first saw it I thought - meh - I will probably send this back. No friends, this is the most comfortable pair of skinny pants. I love that it has a high waist so I can wear it to work and not worry about bending over and flashing anyone. KEEP.

Skies are Blue Sisou Button Down Top
Here is another keeper! I am a sucker for plaid, especially in the fall. This top has a really pretty embroidered trim (sorry didn't get a picture) that adds such a nice extra detail. I also love that the length was long enough for my torso. So often, I find that plaid tops or other button down tops hit my waist/hip area too high and look boxy. This top was fitted and flattering. KEEP.

THML Mackey Open Cardigan
Don't get me wrong, I love an over-sized cozy fall/winter sweater, but this one was itchy. If I have the slightest feeling that the material will irritate my sensitive skin, it's a deal-breaker. RETURN

Overall, I was really happy with my Fix this month. Aside from the two sweaters and dress that didn't make the cut, I feel like my stylist did a great job finding pieces that match my style. I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of both of the items I chose, especially the pants.

I'm not compensated by Stitch Fix to post this review and all of these opinions are my own. I really love their company and I'm currently on my 18th Fix. I almost always find at least one item out of five that I love. My stylists do such a great job meeting my style needs and requests. I have my Pinterest clothing board linked to my Stitch Fix account so they can get a better picture of my style. If you haven't tried Stitch Fix, I highly recommend it!

Have you tried Stitch Fix? Do you like it? I occasionally skip a month, but I am usually faithful to ordering one Fix a month.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed my review.

Labor Day Weekend Fashion & Fun

Good evening friends! I hope everyone had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. It's been a whirlwind of a week coming back from vacation and getting back to work teaching my kinders. I can tell they have had a three day weekend. Any other elementary teachers feel me? yeesh.

I had a wonderful relaxing time with my parents and sisters in beautiful Kentucky. We went to Jackson's Orchard for the annual Apple Festival. I had an apple cider slushie and a pumpkin muffin. Yum! Oh, how I love the taste of fall treats. #pumpkinspiceeverything -yep sorry! Of course, there was also plenty of Spencer's Coffee throughout the trip.

As usual, my teenage sisters, mom, and I went out on a hunt for some holiday weekend deals. We checked out a new shoe store in town called Marti & Liz. I'd never heard of their company before but, I believe they sell mostly overstock shoes. I went in not expecting much, but scored major deals on designer shoes. I ended up with black/snakeskin Tory Burch flats and Sperry Topsider boat shoes at a fraction of the cost. Y'all - I do not spend much on shoes, so believe me these were cheap. Talk about a good shoe find!

My favorite outfit of the weekend was clean white and denim. I dolled up this basic combo with a scalloped hem embroidered tank and my preppy new Sperry's. Pets make pictures 95% better right? Heisey thinks so!

I had a late flight to catch back home on Monday night. It was such a good weekend and it's always hard to leave my family. Free wine makes things better. I was pleasantly surprised with a cup o' Merlot -- perhaps because our flight was delayed by about 15 minutes. I'll take it!

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
Have you ever scored an amazing shoe deal? Bargains like that make my heart happy.

Hello!

Hello friends!

I'm so excited to be publishing my first ever blog post. I've toyed with the idea of a blog for several years, and I was never sure of how I wanted to get started. After a lot of brainstorming, I've decided to take the plunge into the blogger world and put my ideas into motion.

On my blog, Alli Joy's Closet, I plan to share my weekly fashion ensembles and pepper in special/interesting moments about my life as an educator and mama of three kitties. Thank you for your patience as I embark on this new artistic outlet. I hope you enjoy being a part of my blogging adventure!

Meet my three fur-children:

Ms. Mocha
Mr. Hobbes

Princess Coco

Stay tuned for upcoming fashion posts!
